Selce, a sedimentary rock composed of silica, is a prominent feature in the geomorphology of the Curtomartino area. Its unique composition made it the preferred material for crafting the first tools, arrows, and artifacts of early humans, many of which have also been discovered in the Grotta di Curtomartino. The clear mineral composition of Selce, with its shades of white, grey, and yellowish hues, is reminiscent of the chromatic and mineral characteristics of white wines. This is particularly evident in the Curtomartino wine, one of the pioneering producers to introduce a Bianco Gioia del Colle DOP to the market.
